Last month we looked at the Disney animated film that almost took down Disney animation as we know it. This month we look at the film that brought it back from near death, 1986's THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE. To help us look at this magical film, we brought in animation MEGAFAN Paul from the Flicks and Friends Podcast. How did a animated Sherlock Holmes story with mice and an evil rat help save a studio? Why was Vincent Price the perfect choice for the voice of the villain Ratigan? Those questions and so much more get answered in this episode. It's time to venture into the MONTH OF 1986 as we look at the horror musical LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Yes, I said it! Horror musical. This movie is about a guy who feeds a giant plant human bodies. With a stellar cast, amazing practical effects and songs that are beyond catchy, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is an unforgettable experience. Did we all love this one? We've reached the end of our MONTH OF 1985, as this week we let our lovely patrons help us decide what to cover. So this week we look at the film that almost took down the animation department at Disney, 1985's THE BLACK CAULDRON. Behind the scenes issues, a dark script and 12 minutes of cut material by ONE man, THE BLACK CAULDRON is a long forgotten piece of the Disney puzzle that to this day doesn't get discussed enough. Will you be my Valentine? This week we celebrate Valentines Day (a little late, I know) by looking at the 1981 Canadian slasher, MY BLOODY VALENTINE. This film is filled with insane kills, a love triangle, a mean mustache and a dark desolate mine, accompanied by a lot of "soorys" and a miner who doesn't like people having fun. It's week 2 of our MONTH OF 1985 and Parker has brought to the table the Disney powered nightmare fueled sequel to a 1939 classic, RETURN TO OZ. Joining us this week is the wonderful Alli of the Quad Pro Quo Podcast, as she returns to the film that started it all for her show. Between the nightmarish creatures, the men with wheels for hands and feet and a woman who can literally change out her head like a hat, this film was the source of many children's fears growing up.
