When it comes to the history of everyone's favorite giant lizard, we can't forget about the film that helped inspire it. That film is 1953's THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS. When it comes to post war, giant atomic made creature wrecking havoc on a large city, the Rhedasaurus did it first. From the amazing stop motion work of legendary artist Ray Harryhausen, BEAST came alive, and helped create the 70 years of Godzilla iconic history. Burt I. Gordon was a savant when it came to giant animal attack movies, bringing live animals on a massive scale to the screen in ways not seen in Hollywood. In 1957 he directed the GIANT locust movie BEGINNING OF THE END with legendary actor Peter Graves, bringing forth what he could do in this genre. We look back at this now almost 70 year old movie wondering if it still brings the magic, or if its's a forgettable classic, if that makes any sense.
